She sees health as a reflection and culmination of our physical, emotional, and mental well-being, and that vibrant health results when these elements are in balance.

While Dr. De Marco works with patients to achieve wellness at all stages of life, she has a special interest in autoimmune conditions, women’s hormonal health, digestion, stress and burnout, and chronic fatigue. Conditions and concerns that Dr. De Marco treats include:

  • Indigestion and bloating
  • Weight gain
  • Fatigue
  • Insulin resistance
  • Metabolic syndrome
  • IBD (Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis)
  • Thyroid health (Hashimoto’s, Graves)

Dr. De Marco’s primary approach is to focus on addressing the foundations of health, including nutrition, movement, stress management and sleep, to bring about positive change that is reliable and sustainable. She will work with you to come up with a treatment plan that not only addresses your goals, but also fits into your life. Treatment plans often include lifestyle changes, nutritional counselling and botanical medicine, and the use of advanced testing and pharmaceutical prescribing is recommended when necessary. She is also certified in Acupuncture and Intravenous (IV) nutrient therapy.

Dr. De Marco grew up in Montreal, Quebec, and studied Environmental Science and Ecological Determinants of Health at the McGill School of Environment - a long title that is essentially asking the question “In what ways are human health and the health of the planet connected?”. After taking a year off to work and travel, she learned about naturopathic medicine while tree planting in BC, and knew right away that this was the path she was meant to take. She moved to Toronto, Ontario to follow this dream, and graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. She followed her love of plants and trees out west to BC and is now happy to call Victoria her new home.

With an undergrad in Commerce and an interest in holistic health, acupuncture appeared to be nothing more than a scary treatment that involved needles! That was until Yoga Teacher Training, where an acupuncturist came to give treatments. The sensation and experience were so profound that Avery signed up for the Acupuncture Program at MacEwan University immediately.

Avery’s mission is to share the remarkable experience of acupuncture with as many people as possible.

Whether you are interested in trying acupuncture for the first time, curious about the history of acupuncture, or simply want results, Avery will be there to help.
